Comment: I cant say I was impressed when I drove up to Kazoku Sushi. The outside of the building has the anesthetic of a peeled russet potato. However, the inside has a bar as the centerpiece with an expanse of seating from booths lining the windows to tables placed to fill in the gaps that has the welcome of 1950s saloon on a movie set. We arrived just shortly after opening, and it appeared one server was taking care of the small lunch crowd. He was efficient if not overly friendly. My soda was refilled before the last drop of my diet coke settled to the bottom. The menu has a good selection of nigiri, sashimi, simple rolls, and special rolls. The pricing was reasonable from just shy of $7 for nigiri or sashimi to a nickle short of $18 for the fancy specialty rolls. The Infinity Roll, Spider Roll, and Falling Crab Roll were delicious. The ingredients were fresh like Will Smith in his youth and put together like Lady Gaga for an award show; colorful, appealing to different tastes, and beautifully displayed. Overall, this is a nice place to enjoy sushi and get a drink.

Comment: $50 for two rolls and a chicken dish. We ordered pick up. The food was packaged so unbelievably sloppy. We had teriyaki sauce everywhere. The rolls looked like they were made in about 30 seconds.We were also given the smallest container of soy sauce I’ve ever seen. I called to ask for at least a partial refund and was denied. Treated quite rudely actually. Will not return.

Comment: Not sure how to feel about the overall experience. I went there for lunch. I ordered pieces of sashimi, knowing they came two a piece. The pieces of fish they delivered me were so huge it was unbelievable. Almost an inch thick, each piece was like a small fish steak. So I guess I could say great value for the money. But I would have preferred to have them sliced thinly. Service was fantastic, and the sake was good.

Comment: The menu has a pretty good selection of food ~ as someone who was once allergic to seafood/is a non-seafood eater, Ive had almost all the meat dishes and they have all been great! This is also one of the few places that doesnt put crab/imitation crab into the cheese wontons, and they are some of the best wontons Ive ever had.Kazoku Sushi has been a favorite spot and the staff has always been friendly.

Comment: Do not use their Groupon promotion here. You will be treated as a second class citizen and belittled. Our server was extremely rude and condescending all because we had a Groupon voucher. I had purchased three, $15 vouchers and when I presented them, he told me that we could only use one per visit. I let him know that it does not state that on the voucher and he said that its, common sense. He said how he hates Groupon and its difficult to redeem them. I told him that the restaurant should probably not buy into the Groupon promotion if its such a problem for them to use. Funny thing is, Groupon is what brought me to the restaurant and the first time we had lunch without using the vouchers, the service was great. When we came back for dinner with the Groupon, our experience was drastically different. Terrible way to treat customers, we will never go back.

Comment: Kazoku Sushi is an unexpected gem tucked into a strip mall on Colfax Ave. The sushi makers are so skilled at making sushi which is both beautiful and extremely satisfying yummy bites. Ordering was easy, and the waiter was good at offering suggestions. For those eating from the regular menu, the egg rolls and the sesame chicken had a perfectly crispy outside and a well seasoned inside. Beware…. If you are hungry, this will be an expensive meal but it is well worth it.

Comment: Ordered three separate orders of take-out for my friends and I. They ordered on Door Dash and paid through their phones and I simply called my order to-go. The person on the phone was blunt and didnt properly answer the phone nor thank me for my order. Once we got to the restaurant to pick up the food, no one was at the hosting station and I waited for a few minutes for someone to greet us. A white man with blonde hair in a bun, finally came to the desk and just looked at us not saying a word. I greeted him and told him that we were there to pick up orders and that I still had to pay for mine. He grabbed my order and made it seem like me having to pay for my order was a big deal. I paid for my order and left without any thank you from the guy. Food was good, but service was well below par. Hopefully this place will address its customer service issues otherwise it will likely begin to lose its following.

Comment: Best appetizer-style soups in all of Denver. Both their hot & sour and seafood soup are the best Ive tried in all of Denver/Lakewood/Wheat Ridge area so far. Seafood soup is nice and light, shrimp very tender and not chewy like in almost all places, just probably wish thered be more of it. Baby scallops are also tender and flavorful. Their hot & sour soup is perfect; its tangy, not sweet, and texture is perfect. Their sushi is really good and traditional; the fish quality is excellent. They also have a full bar and nice wines. Service has been very attentive always.

Comment: Consistently our favorite sushi. We love the crispy tuna appetizer and all of their raw fish is very fresh. Best yellowtail sashimi and nigiri anywhere. Love the Tokyo Roll too. Super traditional sushi as well as more elaborate rolls are all done very well. The hot food menu is also very solid, with a lot of choices for soups, noodles, stir frys, etc.The owners are doing a really great job with the consistency and quality of food because we have been there around 100 times over the last few years and always have a fantastic meal. Whenever we go to other sushi restaurants in Colorado and even California and elsewhere, we always miss Kozoku for both the quality and value.Just recently (during the Coronavirus pandemic), we got takeout and it was very good. We called while parked outside and the waitress brought our food to us since we preferred not to go inside. The only compromise for takeout vs. dine-in was that the crispy rice in our crispy tuna was not quite as hot and crispy as were used to when dining in, but that is to be expected.Prices are slightly better than other sushi places. My wife and I usually get the spicy crispy tuna appetizer, an order of yellowtail nigiri, a Tokyo roll, a fried or regular California roll, salmon sahimi, and another roll and are way too stuffed. Price wise, we usually end up somewhere between $65 and $85 without tip.

Especially if you go during happy hour, youll get plenty of very good sushi for way less money than you would expect. I will say that their construction on the rolls is lack luster (sometimes youll get too much of one ingredient in one bite), but they always use super fresh and high quality ingredients. I had a 6 piece tuna role and a 6 piece yellowtail role that were excellent. They dont scrimp on the fish like some sushi places do during happy hour. Suggest going Monday or Tuesday as happy hour runs all day. There is seldom a wait and during lunch there is no wait. Service was very fast and staff is very friendly and professional. Well, maybe I eat 2 peoples worth of sushi, but either way the requirement for 2 was not in the fine print of the Groupon anywhere, nor was I informed of this when I specifically mentioned I found them on Groupon when I walked in. They have some pretty slimy sushi, and some even slimier marketing tactics, I will not be returning and will certainly spread the word to all my local friends that this place doesnt deserve their business.

Last visit we were met with some new faces, (not really strange on west colfax) however normal supervisory and management team was present. We eat a lot of sushi, and we have eaten a lot of sushi all over the country, we know how much we eat and what exactly we ordered. We were shorted, plain and simple. We called them on it and didn’t even touch our plate. We were assured that the rest was on its way, again the next plate was short and we explained again to the waitress that we were missing 2 orders. So we completed our meal and received the bill. To our dismay we found excess charges for food that we ordered, 25% more than what we ordered, we asked about the charges and the waitstaff advised that it was their fault they billed it wrong but we still had to pay. At this point with the shinanigans going on we paid the bill. Way to lose a customer for life.

Great service, great menu, friendly staff, very nice atmosphere and most importantly - everything is absolutely delicious. Comment: I love their salad, the dressing has ginger (One type, no dressing options). Menu is very simple, and all of the specialty rolls we have tried have been delicious. We go out of our way to eat here. The tempura is great as well.

Comment: Nigiri was warm not chilled like its supposed to be. Sushi rolls were thick of rice and even the rice was dry.Poke salad was a bowl of pine nut salad with cubed tuna as the crutons.The quality of the rolls were that of a novice, as the sushi was falling apart. I can roll better at home.The fish isnt of high grade so it left a very distinct fishy taste. Eating mint gum didnt completely rid of the less than desired taste.I wouldnt go back again, too expensive for the less than mediocre quality food.

Comment: Yes the prices were good.. I lived in Okinawa.and you dont use Ramen noodles for yakisoba. Thats why they call it soba. You use soba noodles. The sushi was decent. Ive been trying to find my authentic Japanese like when I lived there. This was not it. Dont bother hassling with downtown traffic and parking when you can enjoy quality Japanese right in your own neighborhood. They may lack some of the more exotic stuff, and we didnt sample any of the ore delicate fish you might find at a more upscale place. But the rolls we had made for a fantastic lunch.

Comment: A very good Japanese-style restaurant (though, inside an old Fazolis building, so the atmosphere may feel a little strange if thats what youre looking for). Ive rarely seen a lot of people here, which I suspect is because its not right off the road, and harder to see / find, because the prices are good with excellent lunch specials and the food quality is excellent. Both the sushi and the main dishes are well prepared and seem very fresh.

Comment: So amazing! After a day of skiing, hubby and I wanted some sushi before heading back to FoCo. This place was awesome! Had the lemon zinger roll and so-cal roll. Both so good. The salmon nigiri was also amazing... Thick slices are always welcomed! We will definitely make this a regular stop on the way home from skiing.

Comment: Best sushi place in Lakewood! My boyfriend and I have been going once a week since we discovered this place. We always pay around $40 for drinks and four sushi rolls (cooked ones) and we always end up full at the end. Their sushi is amazing! I recommend the Sunny California roll. :) We get it every time. Their service has been excellent every time weve been there and they are a great place for a late night dinner! As a matter of fact, were going there right now!
