Comment: We arrived at the height of lunch. Definitely a popular choice for people! We sat at the high top in front of the sushi station although there were several open tables. We just find it fun to watch the hustle and bustle. Our waitress was the only waitress working the dining area and she was very efficient and had a great vibe! She seemed to thrive on the busy-ness and was cheery and seemed legitimately happy! I chose the Mr Miyagi special roll and my daughter a bowl of spicy ramen. Both of us loved our choices. Next time we are in the area we will return to Midtown Sushi & Ramen.

Comment: I have to honestly say that I will not ever go to this restaurant again. It was dirty, even the silverware, it was cold, and the Ramen wasn’t so great. I will also say that the young lady that helped us yesterday, December 17 of 2023 about noon, disclosed that she was left by herself, and then two of her coworkers called off. I completely understand that and I understand that sometimes there is a rush. What I don’t understand is you rushing to the point where you push me out of the way and almost make me fall, so you can get to your destination. That pissed me off simply because her excuse me after she pushed me out of the way, was not genuine, and I did not appreciate being pushed anyway. I am disabled, and she almost knocked me over.Let me not forget to mention how my friend ordered the Nagasaki Ramen and he was sick all afternoon before he eventually threw up. That was the only thing he had eaten that day.

Comment: We went here for lunch and it was really great. We were looking for something that was filling and had different options. The staff was very nice and pleasant. I think the only thing that could have been better was that they could have made a ramen much more spicy. Other than that they had great options to choose from in terms of ramen as well as sushi. Would definitely recommend for a Friday afternoon lunch.

Comment: I visited St. Louis for the weekend and decided to check out this ramen spot and it was pretty decent. I did an order of sushi with my ramen and everything tasted fresh and yummy.I didn’t love the environment because it felt of like all the seats and tables were so open and you were sitting so close to the people around you. I mostly don’t like this because I get overstimulated easily.Other than that, ramen was good for the cost of it. It’s probably not my number 1 favorite spot though.

Comment: I usually love Midtown but this last visit was so disappointing.The same ramen that I get 90% of the time tasted very different and not good at all.And the service is super hit or miss. Our server tonight didnt check on us once after dropping off the food and we had to get another server to fix wrong items.Trying to give benefit of the doubt because it was busy, but even so, making eye contact with your table trying to get your attention then walking the other way is bad service

Comment: Food is awful. Like dont waste your time and go somewhere else.I was in St. Louis on a work trip. I came here at 7pm hungry, as i had barely eaten all day, and looking forward to it. I absolutely love sushi. I ordered fried squid legs, one rainbow roll and one spider roll. Right away, the fried squid looked too brown, and it surely didnt taste right. It tasted like it was fried in old burnt oil. When the server came to drop off the sushi, i told her about it. She said “oh i think they changed it today. Let me ask.” She comes back and says “yeah, they already changed it this morning.” Well, it was 7pm and i am not sure how busy they were all day, but the squid was almost inedible; thank God I was hungry. Then the spider roll, same story. All i could taste, was burnt oil; could not taste any crab meat, and when i looked at it, the meat was surely so dry and barely any of it in there. Rainbow roll - just mediocre. The wasabi - little of it and eh. For $15 a roll, go somewhere else. There is no love and pride in the food. It sucks. My husband’s rolls at home taste better/ and he uses imitation crab meat for the kids. Service was ok, but the server did not do anything to address my concerns, like let me take it back or what not, as i was still struggling to eat it. Atmosphere not good. What a waste of a meal!

Comment: The sushi is ok but the ramen is seriously lacking. The spicy kimchi ramen had just ONE shrimp and just ONE tiny slice of pork. They are definitely cheaping out. It was spicy but it lacked any other depth of flavor and was weirdly sweet. The Nagasaki Campon ramen was extremely bland. If you are going just for sushi it’s fine but definitely do not recommend the ramen.

Comment: REVIEW UPDATE.✨During my last visit here, pieces of the roof and dust fell and covered my left side while I was sitting in a booth. The waitress was VERY apologetic and quick to remove me from the booth. However, I am VERY disappointed that the Manager/Owner did not come to the booth to express concern or apologize. She just looked at me from across the room and stayed in the back. On top of that, they still made me pay my bill: no comp or NOTHING. I am very disappointed in this establishment and how the owner handled this. I dealt with the matter as gracefully as I could and even tried to laugh it off even though I was very stunned and embarrassed. In my gut, I felt it was very race-related because why would people treat someone that way after an incident in YOUR establishment?Its safe to say I will not be returning, and it’s sad because the food is amazing and the servers are great!So eat at your own risk, or take it to go.Old Review:The service was great! The food was made fast, and it tasted sooooo fresh. This was the best sushi I’ve had in St. Louis, so far. I would go back in a heartbeat.

My partner who regularly eats spice thought that the Midtown ramen was spicy, so probably tread with caution unless it was just today that we came in and it was very spicy. It was kind of funny that it only came with one shrimp that was boiled separately. I ordered extra spicy sauce on the side expecting chili oil and it was a very thick paste that did not dissolve well into my ramen so wouldn’t do that again. There was one server for all the tables but she was ontop of it the best she could even though we sat there waiting for a bit. The place was clean with an OK temperature for such a humid day in STL.

There isnt a weak point on the menu; Ive tried several ramens, rolls, appetizers, and other dishes, and everything has been delicious. Clean and good service. They have a great sake selection! I ordered the chicken teriyaki once, and it wasnt very good. My fiance ordered the chicken korage, and he said it was terrible. On another visit, we noticed someone from another table order the chicken korage, and they didnt touch it. Stick to the sushi and the ramen. Superb!

Showed up at 2:30 pm to a sign that said “Please Wait to be Seated.” We were yelled at from the counter and waved on to a table, even though there were multiple workers and few patrons at the time. We sat down and then a waitress came over at 2:32 to say they closed in 10 minutes and could do takeout, but the kitchen was already closed (not really sure how that would work??). We questioned their closing time since we were aware that they closed at 3:00 pm, but were still told that they close in 10 minutes. We’ve both worked in the restaurant industry and have never worked at a place that stopped offering food before they were actually closed (outside of a bar). Definitely won’t return for that service.

Comment: This was the first time I dined here. We celebrated a late Mothers Day dinner since our son was out of the country. The food was very delicious and not fishy as I first thought it would be. The server was great, very professional, and courteous. We had the salmon avocado roll, Naruto roll, spider roll, and the Yoshi roll. All fantastic and very filling. The only issue I had was remembering how to use chopsticks correctly. A little out of practice. We had a party of 6 that night and just to let you know they automatically add 18% for a party of six. It was fair and you might want to go above the recommendation. It is worth it.

Midtown Sushi & Ramen is a must try for anyone who loves authentic ramen dishes or good sushi, and while it’s not in the name, the Donburi bowls are some of the best in town.I recommend the Hakata Ramen if you’re a fan of smoked meats! The pork belly really adds great smoky and fatty notes to the noodles.If pork isn’t your thing then the Spicy Midtown Ramen gives you the same base as the Hakata, but swaps the pork with shrimp and smoky flavor with a spicy broth!Which one is better is a toss up and is just one more reason to come back for a second visit.

Comment: Our experience with Midtown Sushi was terrible. From customer service to food quality - terrible. We called our order in for pick up because Grub Hub was no longer taking orders for delivery. We based our order off of Midtown website. When we went to pick up the order the total was $23 more than the website said. When questioned, they told us “oh, the prices haven’t been updated in 3 years”. When I asked why that is our problem, we were told we should’ve used the grub hub website - but if they weren’t taking orders, why would we use that site? Once we got the food back to the hotel, I tested that out & it brought us back to their incorrect site. Also, food description is outdated as well bc the sushi we ordered & the sushi we got were two totally different things on all 4 rolls. The cashier had zero customer service skills + a whole lot of attitude. Very disappointed.

Comment: It’s sad that the food in the restaurant completely ruined our night. We had gyoza as an appetizer. They are nothing worth mentioning, but only 5 small pieces. The worse comes to the special roll - case close. The rice is almost meshed, no texture for the rolls. Japanese food is special in its texture, which requires time and effort to make it right. And it seems even worse than that we can cook with just instant pot. It’s a family friendly environment, but if you expect to enjoy time to have good food, Midtown Sushi is the wrong place.

The ramen is delicious and filling. The broth, meat, and eggs are the best Ive had at any ramen place. They do offer forks, but I would recommend chopsticks. The sushi and sashimi were also great. This is truly the best ramen I’ve had! Absolutely savory, noodle-y, meaty, and the perfect comforting dish for an autumn evening. And those jammy eggs were one of the tastiest things I have eaten… the flavor and texture was impeccable. My party and I also enjoyed the crab Rangoon for starters.The only downside would be that, as the dining area got busier, it became really difficult to get service to ask for anything or pay out the bill. We almost felt like we were forgotten for a hot minute, everyone was running around and if they say anything to you, it was in passing while they were running somewhere. Their Specialty Midtown roll is also incredible and probably something I get every time I visit here. I have tried many of their sushi rolls and none of them disappointed me. Comment: If you love sushi as much as I do you’ll make it back to Midtown Sushi. There’s a decent amount of good spots in the 314 but this is my personal favorite. I usually recommend a specific order but you should try something new here every time you go. If I did give you advice I’d say try a few apps Ie gyoza, sushi, miso soup, several pieces of Nigiri AND the plum sake to compliment any dish. Also, if you’re in to fried sushi, they have perfectly breaded/flakes rolls that are not too heavy like you would see at most places (not a gut bomb)! Great food, great service, perfect spot to bring friends and family and sort of unassuming from the outside but really fun atmosphere inside.

The ramen was superb, largely due to the excellent smoked pork belly. The best ramen Ive ever had. We tried the Takoyaki which was great! Definitely give it a try, especially if youve never had octopus before. We had the Chicken Kaarage. Perfect crunch on the outside and a beautiful pink, moist center. I cant remember the specific type of sushi I got. It was a specialty roll. It was the Kneeling Tiger or something along those lines. Regardless, it was fantastic as well. My only complaint is that the place is quite small for as popular as it is. If you dont get there as they open, you may have to wait a while for a table. Also, the tables are rather small. To be fair, I and the person I was there with are bigger people. My most recent waitress was AMAZING which is why I bumped up to 2 stars from 1. I had to add about half the table condiments to my ramen to taste it, I was honestly worried I had covid, but the undercooked dough and octopus balls I had as an app had plenty of flavor. Comment: It’s an okay noodle soup but I will not call it Ramen(at least not Japanese Ramen, might American Ramen!?) Base on the price and tasty, I will actually recommend it if you are near by. This will be a good choice for lunch or quick dinner for one person. But if you’re not nearby, this is not the one you want to traveling to for “Japanese Ramen”

Comment: Went today and got st.Louis rolls and fried California rolls and a chicken teriyaki bowl. We can got seated ,mind you this is the first time my friend is having it. Usually the service is spot on however today the people that were sat after us got their food first and thankfully the sushi chief notices we didn’t get our food and starts it before even the waitress even notices, I understand as a server myself it can get hectic so I let it go…then I see our food ready on the counter and I see the waitress looks at the tickets instead of communicating and figuring out where it should go. She leaves our food sitting there and goes to clean a table at this point I have to get up out of my seat and tell her that’s our food. Finally we eat and leave. I checked my bank later on and my total was 32.xx and the waitress charged my card twice. Overall was disappointed in the service today food was great

Comment: A loving, refreshing and authentic ramen and sushi restaurant. The staff was so friendly, and the food was absolutely mind-blowing. (I actually had to order a second round of Gyoza, thats how good it was). The quality of food is top tier, but that does come with a premium, most dishes are around $15 or more (unless you order sushi) but the size will definitely feed you the whole day.

Comment: I visited here for dinner with two friends. It has very cute and interesting decor with a laid back atmosphere. The server was extremely friendly and helped us pick out a sake best for our combined taste preferences and she did not fail us at all.For my fellow vegans, they do have a vegan friendly broth that they were sadly out of. My friends really enjoyed the ramen they had that was a miso and pork based broth. I ordered some veggie sushi, veggie tempura and agedashi tofu. Truth be told, I think their was some dairy or something in the tofu batter. I didnt ask because I already ordered it and didnt want to waste, but something to ask if you are a fan of that dish like I am.All in all, the space and restroom was very clean, friendly staff and delicious food. My friends were just as impressed as I. I definitely recommend!

Comment: The food was phenomenal. Sake is delicious. Cool vibe and atmosphere. Reservations are required I believe. Im only giving 4 stars because my lady and I were about 10 minutes late getting there (which was my fault) but the first thing the waitress says to me was I was about to give your table away. She didnt say it in a joking way, and she had a bit of an attitude, again, which I understood because I made us late. But is that really the first thing you say to greet customers? After that, it felt like her hospitality was forced, I was not fond of the vibe I got from her. Id visit again, just hope shes not my waitress again.

This place is much better than some of the other options in STL. Try the pork gyoza and the crouching tiger. Comment: My group of 3 tried 3 different ramen bowls and the gyoza appetizer. It wasnt the best Ive ever had, but we enjoyed it. THE SPICY MIDTOWN RAMEN IS NOT VERY SPICY. If you are really into spicy foods, you will be disappointed. That being said, the food was good. The noodles were perfect consistency. Id definitely choose Nudo House over this, though.

Comment: We were seated for 15 minutes without having a drink order taken. Finally flagged down the hostess to see if we could just help ourselves for drinks. Food sat on the server counter for close to 10 minutes before it was delivered to the table. Had to stop the waitress as she was leaving to request drink refills, or else it wouldnt have happened. Food was very good. Sat for another 20 minutes waiting for the check after we were done eating. Also, drinks went unfilled again. Watching the staff look busy without actually completing tasks was astonishing. They arent understaffed, just lacking in basic time management and prioritization skills. It should not take close to 1.5 hours to have a sushi roll with the small number of tables and the amount of staff they had working.

Comment: This restaurant with an unassuming exterior is actually really great! It was recommended to me by a Japanese friend so I knew the ramen was going to be authentic. I tried both the pork ramen and the seafood ramen and they were both distinct and delicious! The soup base was savory, the noodles were perfectly cooked, and the meat and veggies were both soft. I feel like a lot of other places have 1 or 2 of the 3 main parts (broth, noodles, meat and/or veggies) done well but not all three. The serving size is plenty. I had leftovers and the waitress boxed my noodles separate from my broth so that the noodles dont get soggy. I was so grateful! Most places wont do that for you. Additionally the service is fast and the waitress was nice. Seating is comfortable. The bathroom is clean. The ambiance is casual but you could definitely go here for a more casual date too. Parking is easy because theres a lot just around the corner. Theres paid street parking right outside the front door, but just go to the free lot. I will definitely be visiting this place again.

Comment: Exclusive ramen place. Excellent broth!!! Ordered plain ramen (noodles, broth, egg) and added a few different ingredients. Noodles are soft. Broth is pork and chicken based, amazing!! Sushi we ordered was shrimp tempura, even mother liked it (who doesnt like sushi)... This one is cooked. Anytime we are in St. Louis we make it here. Parking is easy, $2 max at meters or parking lot near back. Clean restrooms.
