Comment: Ordered ramen and it was instant Top Ramen. They added egg but not a soft boiled egg it was the crumbly drizzled in egg like Egg Drop Soup.The sushi was tiny, about the size of a dime. It was over sauced and under flavored. It was terrible. The crab Rangoon was burned and tasted like dirty fryer oil.The service was absent. By the time we left there was a pile of dirty dishes on our table. I felt like I was eating in sink full of used dishes. Waiter never asked about drinks. When he refilled our waters he touched the pitcher to the rim of each glass on the table; cross-contamination much. He probably did that to every table in the restaurant so good thing there were zero other people there.When I confronted the sandal-adorned waiter about the gratuity he got confrontational. I would have left zero dollars. They know their food is terrible and the service is worse. That’s why all the obviously fake reviews here.

Ordered 3 rolls and an alcoholic drink and my bill was $120. Staff was friendly but the pricing is insane. No way the gratuity and alcohol tax and service charge should be 85$ . Food was ok but not 120$ great.

Comment: An absolute diamond in the rough establishment. Excellent Food, Excellent Service, and a hands down amazing service staff. Personal shout out to our waiter Eugene who was on top of everything including our water refills; alongside, what I assume were the owners of the establishment, personally checking on me and my partner during our stay ensuring we could make the most out of our visit. Comment: This place is an absolute gem. We had the gyoza for appetizers and they might have been the best Ive ever had, not horribly greasy like some places, but nicely fried and crunchy. Then I got the mizu special roll and the sexy lady - my partner got the bulgogi. The sushi was amazing!!! I even stole a bite of the bulgogi, and if I ever go back I would definitely get that (unless I just go back to the sushi, which is absolutely worth it). I was surprised that this place was not packed on a Saturday night, being so close to the last hotel. The service was great and they were constantly tipping up our water. Everyone who waited on us was super polite. Eugene was a wonderful waiter that helped us today.10/10, great food, great service, great vibe. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Comment: I’m surprised it’s taken me this long to try Mizu, but I’m glad I did! They have a great selection of sushi and their entrees are really well prepared. I had a beef donuburi bowl with beef and it was a ton of food for the price, easily two meals. The sushi rolls were also great and came out really fast. Along with the mains, I ordered some Agedashi Dofu (fried tofu) and it was amazing! If you live downtown you need to pay them a visit!

Almost as if it was old although they made it fresh. The dumplings were okay. The sauce was the saving grace. The house resiling had an odd taste. One of my friends found hair in their food, so that sort of ruined my appetite. The service was SUPER slow even though it wasnt busy. The wait staff barely let us speak before walking away from the table each time they approached with things like untensils or whatever. It was pretty rude honestly. I definitely wont be back.

I did show up right at opening but it was still borning as hell. The best entertainment was the opening game for the cardinals that was being shown on the projector. Bow for the food, Sushi I had the new california roll which is a fried roll. It lacks flavor that I was expecting. Maybe it was a poor choice of the roll but I have been to other places like sushi ai that is far more tastier. The ramen I wanted off the menu was the Mizu ramen bowl which is their signature bowl but they didnt have it which was VERY DISAPPOINTING, how can you have something on the menu and dont have the item that matches the name of the restaurant. However I did order the chicken ramen and my husband had the shrimp ramen. Ramen was mid once again I had better at other places. The broth was spicy with slight favor but enough to complement the noodles. Almost like a scrambled egg instead of the normal egg you get with ramen. The beverage menu. My husband tried to order some type of bubble margarita which once again they didnt have. So the bill after everything ended up being 40 bucks with 18 percent gratuity included. I feel like 18 percent was a reach considering my waiter said she was bring me a refill on the water several times and I never got it until I was done with my meal. Overall this place is MID. Probably wouldnt pick this place by choice again. The place isnt bad, just you can pick a better spot to eat than this place. Make this your last choice but not your worst choice.

I ordered gyoza, California roll and spring rolls. The spring rolls were the best part of the meal. Very crispy and well made. The sweet dipping sauce was a perfect pairing. The dumplings were good as well. The sushi was okay. The imitation crab was not great. Not to mention one person at my table had hair in her food. A couple of orders were wrong. If youre looking for a place with fast, dependable service, this is definitely not the place to go. And hopefully your dish doesnt have hair 🤷🏿‍♀️

I get extremely full before I finish my bowl so that’s all that matters.When food makes you happy and hopeful all of a sudden after eating you know it’s good. This place definitely brings bliss and they have amazing prices!!I had the rainbow roll too. Delicious. Fresh. I added eel sauce. I was SO full.

Nothing really special though.However the curry was thin. Incredibly thin. Ive never seen thin curry like this ever. When I brought this up, the cook came out personally and accused me of putting water into the curry. I pointed out I didnt want any free food or for him to make it again. I just wanted to point out an issue. He proceeded to say he didnt care and he didnt make curry that thin ever.After being accused of pouring water in the curry and being told that he didnt care about constructive criticism I left. They add a compulsory 18% gratuity and I added additional. The wait staff was great though she saw fit to misgender despite being corrected multiple times. That aside, this was a most disappointing dining experience. The cook could have handled himself with more professionalism and dignity. Neither were on display.I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We beat the dinner rush by arriving around 7p on a Saturday, as you walk in youll see a beautifully designed bar with an equally unique dining room. Our server was fun, she cracked jokes and gave great recommendations. We ordered the Dragon Ball for an app and we werent disappointed, packed with flavor its a must try to start your meal. I got the Las Vegas Roll, and Caterpillar my significant other had the number 45. All put on one plate made for an intimate dinner with great food. This by itself is whatever, we normally would tip 20%, but I understand that lots of people dont so some places feel the need to add that. My issue is that our server, who was most surely one of the owners, pointed out to my husband that he didnt leave an additional tip on top of what was already added in. She said something like, The 18% is just so we can stay open, the extra tip is for good service. Trust me, I know times are tough for restaurants, my husband and I own one ourselves, but thats not the best way to handle that. That being said, I hope everyone will consider eating out more often to help keep restaurants open. Whether it be at this one or some other one, or dine in or carry out. Just get out there and help your favorite restaurants!

It’s really my fault because at 8.85 I should have expected that it wouldn’t be what I thought (you can pay upwards of 16, 17 dollars for a good bowl of ramen). I got the miso ramen which came out suspiciously quick and looked/tasted just llike chicken noodle soup. The ramen noodles themselves were the same noodles you can get from the 1 for 5 ramen pack at the dollar store and the only vegetables in there seem to be squash and onions and there was no egg to speak of. My boyfriend got the chicken ramen which wasn’t much better and the chicken tasted reheated. Again, the price point itself is suspicious but seriously just don’t do it.

Comment: This place isn’t bad if you’re looking for a taste of sushi. The rolls taste pretty good, but they are slightly lacking. One thing that threw me for a loop was that the crab inside the rolls is just a stick of imitation crab. It takes away the creaminess of the roll by not having the crab mix inside, as is normally done. The rolls are also VERY small. I normally fill up with one roll at sushi places, but I need 2 here. At $12-14 a roll, that’s not cheap. I was excited to see mixed tempura on the menu but then confused when it was an entree in a bento box and not available at all as an appetizer. Mixed tempura is usually one of my favorite appetizers to order at a sushi place.Overall: taste was pretty good, fish was good, portions were very small, and you either spend a lot of money or leave hungry. My rating: 3.5 stars (I can’t do halves, so I was nice and went with 4)

I knew what I wanted and certainly didnt need a weight watchers consult and yes I kindly declined her advice and got what I asked for and ate it all with a side of eel sauce. Not to mention other behaviors Ive witnessed when they are serving other customers!! I have given this place multiple chances to get there customer service together when dealing with people of any race, sex, gender identification etc. because they are close to my home and have good happy hour deals but after my last experience with the male owner I will not be returning. I rather eat from a trash dump while be waited on by rat.

Comment: My name is Gerald. I work with Wells Fargo and I was in St. Louis for a week for training. I decided to take a scroll downtown to get a haircut at a barber shop that was about four mins from my hotel. Being new to the city I didn’t realize how cold it really was, but that was my mistake. Anyhow, I did all the walking only to find the barber shop closed all while my phone was dying. I decided to stop somewhere, grab a bite and recuperate. I walked in cold and disappointed but the lady at the bar of Muzi was so welcoming and nice! She made sure I was well attended to and even showed me a barber shop across the street that I did not notice because I was so cold at the time from roaming outside unaware. Needless to say, the food here is amazing!! This place is a wonderful place to go if you’re visiting St. Louis. Good people and great service!

Seem to always be micro-manging and plenty of times Ive been in there when its slow and the owner is always drinking . Also if you have an issue with your food they question you as if they dont believe they made a mistake. Drinks are pricey if you dont go during happy hour. There are better sushi options downtown or very close to downtown.

Actually, it was the worst blue tuna I have ever had! The super white tuna was ok though. They were not very interested in making me a satisfied customer. Comment: Two people for lunch, not busy at all. Both ordered teriyaki lunch specials with salads. One came out 15 minutes later with the wrong salad dressing. Waited 3-4 minutes and the other lunch came out. No silverware, napkins or chopsticks. Asked and waited again for proper salad and eating utensils. The food was NOT GOOD, there was a hair in the sushi and gnats on the food that came from the kitchen. Poorly seasoned, unflavored sauces. Poorly made sushi, very low quality ingredients in everything. The table next to us sent food back for wrong ingredients. Definitely will no be back and would advise that you look elsewhere as well.

Upon my arrival to fill out an application, I was rudely brushed off and told they werent hiring. Ive continued to see the same ad be reposted since my visit. The other half of the party had to wait for another 15 minutes for their food. The saving grace on that visit was the imperial roll. Which we ordered two of on this visit. Less than 2 blocks or 5 min walk from the Dome, Renaissance and Embassy suite hotels.In a recent visit for the FIRST Robotics Championship in downtown I was delighted once again to be blown away with quality of sushi and Japanese food. The front house staff are polite and extremely attentive. Chef Danny who manages the Sushi and also currently the Kitchen food continued to impress and amaze at every corner. The sake sushi (salmon) was literally the melt in your mouth over the top amazing.The only downside to my encounter is knowing that I will have to wait another year to enjoy Sushi as it should be. Mizu you have gained my trust, respect and sincere appreciation.

Comment: Favorite asian restaurant in downtown St. Louis, plus a solid happy hour and good lunch specials. I have been several times and the food has always been good, and with fast and good service. Several other reviewers have complained about the lack of customer service, but has never been my experience. They also have a large projector, convenient if a Blues game or something else happens to be on. But if you are looking for a rowdier place to watch a game, go down a couple of storefronts to The Dubliner.Street parking can be tricky, as with all of downtown St. Louis, but you can usually find some spaces behind the building on Lucas Avenue or down a block or two on Washington Avenue.Also, the previous reviewer mentioned a faulty Groupon. I bought the same one, and it does say VERY clearly that the $40 for $80 worth of food is valid only for groups of four people or more. Groupon had another one that was $20 for $40 for any party size that sold out.In general, it is worth checking Living Social and Groupon before going to Mizu, as they seem to offer specials fairly frequently.

Comment: I had a terrible experience on Friday, January 23, 2015. It started off with a Groupon $40 for $80, and it ended with me and my wife leaving and vowing never to return. We arrived at their location, its downtown StL so expect to pay for parking, and I was underwhelmed. It had an air of cheap sushi house trying to be fancy. Our server was nice but not very good. She seemed to not know the menu very well and was not very helpful. We ordered our sushi and fried rice and it came out quickly. The some of the rolls were good some were not. The portion size was pretty small given that each roll was about $12. We made sure to order about $80 worth of food because we had that Groupon.At the end of our meal I pulled out my Groupon and the waitress told me I couldnt use it because it was only for four people or more. And my wife and I only counted as two. EVEN THOUGH it says nothing in the fine print nor in the rules that you have to have four people present! She gave me the cash value, $40, but her attitude was Your SOL. I felt tricked. Bamboozled. Hoodwinked. At the end of the day Groupon is to get new customers in the door to try your food and your service. Hopefully they will come back and tell their friends. I will never go back. They dont care about your experience. They are only doing the bare minimum. There are so many sushi places that you shouldnt waste your hard earned money on this over-priced-barely-above-grocery-store-level sushi.I know I wont.

Comment: Being from the east coast and having moved to St. Louis, it was hard to find a great sushi place that doesnt go overkill on sauces, and filler. Mizu Sushi changed that for me. They cook their sushi rice to perfection and their raw fish is fresh and plentiful. They have a very good selection of standard maki, nigiri, and specialty rolls that I havent had elsewhere. Yellowtail and fugi rolls were simply amazing. The staff was also very pleasant and knowledgable.

Comment: Although the food is somewhat alright (read: edible) for sushi, the customer service is even worse. I had purchased a Living Social coupon to use towards my dinner but when I went to redeem my voucher, it showed as already redeemed. I havent eaten at Mizu previously but my voucher said that I had redeemed it about 1 week prior. I called LivingSocial and they said that it was a problem with the merchant, and only the merchant could un-redeem my coupon to be used again (or technically, for the first time). So we decided to go to Mizu and present the problem, figuring that even if they didnt honor the entire coupon they would at least offer us some type of discount on our meal once I presented the coupon showing that it was indeed redeemed on a day when I wasnt even able (because of my 14 hour work schedule) to eat there.The manager was a complete idiot, and simply said theres nothing we can do. we only get paid once for those couponsInstead of simply offering to take even just 10% of my bill off, or giving me a free sushi roll, or even just admitting that it was their mistake and my coupon number had been entered incorrectly, he pretty much just said too bad and walked away.And so we walked away also. And we wont be going back.

Comment: I travel the US on business and each city I visit, I like to sample the local sushi restaurants. I recently had the pleasure of eating at MIZU, in downtown St Louis. The service was excellent, and the nigiri and sashimi was even better. This was one of the best sushi experiences Ive ever had. Amazing presentation and atmosphere. Freshest yellowtail Ive ever had. If you like a very hot roll, ask for the Rookie Roll. It isnt on the menu. It was just created for us 2 days ago. My client said it was quite possible the best sushi hes ever had. We liked it so much, we doubled our orders.
