Comment: This is one of the best sushi restaurants in the Denver metro. Absolutely amazing fresh tasting sushi with excellent service. It’s a little low key but priced well. I wish I took better pics but it’s honestly on the same level as the ‘higher end’ joints when it comes to taste. Can’t wait to go back.

Comment: I went here for sushi during happy hour and although the staff were friendly, I thought the sushi was pretty mediocre and it was EXPENSIVE even with happy hour pricing. I didn’t buy a drink and some of the rolls were close to $15 at the discounted price. I would not go during regular hours as I can’t imagine how much my bill for one would’ve cost.

Comment: The biggest issue i had with this place is the menu using names you will find at other places but they are not the same items. If this restaurant could add to their online menu a description or pictures of there sushi rolls i think I would have had a better experience. The sushi I did get was kind of bland and boring. The fried rice was good and the fried tuna appetizer was good even though the wife and I both think it didnt have any tuna on or in it. For the price of this place it was a huge bust and disappointment for a birthday dinner.

Everything is great, you wont be disappointed.Also, choose to sit outside in the afternoon at your own risk (or bring a hat!); their patio gets the setting sun and it can get intense for a minute. If you dont mind it, it can be a great way to get seated earlier if there is a wait for a table inside.

Comment: Pretty good BiBimbap, it was crunchy and flavorful and delicious. Just what I needed on a cold day.I only remembered to take a photo after I had already mixed everything. Definitely take your time to mix it all so you can get all the flavors in every bite.There was lots of food leftover, so I heated it up in a skillet the next day with an egg fried over it and it was even better than the day before. Highly recommend.

Very cool atmosphere with a really nice newly renovated porch w/ heaters & roof for chiller/rainy days (great for pets if you want to bring your pup). Very popular spot for first Fridays.Spicy Edamame, Furikake Fries, Gyoza, Miso Soup and Seaweed or Garden Salad are my favorite appetizers.The Firecracker Roll and the Crispy Tuna Bites are the BEST ROLLS IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE, they cannot be topped!! Comment: This used to be one of my favorite sushi spots in Denver - their daily happy hr (excluding first Fridays) cant be beat. That being said, my most recent experience was not on par with previous experience. The avocado was brown/almost black in portions of a smoked salmon avocado roll, the tuna avocado had the texture of spicy tuna, and yellowtail texture wasnt good. This may have been (and hoping it was) a one off experience, because its normally really good.

I told the guy who sat me that my phone was being repaired and I forgot to bring a book. He was so sweet - he came back and said I was trying to find something for you to read and all I could find is this - it was a restaurant supply catalog. I said Ill take it! I went during lunch so there wasn’t a crowd, we were sat right away and taken care of immediately by the friendly staff.We also ordered the fried rice and ramen. The ramen broth was just very salty, maybe it was sitting on heat too long it got salty. Fried rice is just as you expect from any good restaurant.For a very slow afternoon, the restroom were not fully stocked. Both restrooms are unisex and one restroom did not have paper towels. Otherwise, everything was pretty clean and tidy.The parking lot out back is very tight and a nightmare. They share their rear parking with Grease Monkey. You can also do street parking. This is all expected due to location of the facility.4/5 stars for first time experience5/5 for atmosphere and friendly staff5/5 stars for sushi & fried rice2/5 stars for the ramen3/5 parking, that is to be expected downtownMaybe I will give it another try in the future, but not something I’d go out of my way for.

If were in town again, well come here again. The sushi was great and the staff friendly. One gentleman on the staff explained a few things - amberjack vs yellowtail, monkfish liver as well as their special cooking style for the Aburi sushi. I loved the monkfish liver, it was a very rich, very smooth texture. I can see some people not liking it. The amberjack jalapeno was tasty; the amberjack had a firmer texture while being leaner than yellowtail. The Aburi special was solid as well. They had a perfect cook on the tempura. Everything there was tasty, no complaints. My favorite part was their yellowtail and their habanero masago.

Comment: Fresh ingredients: ginger, wasabi, vegetables and meats. Presentation and customer service was excellent. I highly recommend the seaweed salad. I ordered the pick 2 lunch special. Salad comes with your order but for a $1 more you can upgrade to the seaweed salad. I didnt believe the hype and got the regular salad. That was a mistake it was good but when I tried my friends seaweed salad a love affair began lol. I ended up getting a seaweed salad to go.I chose the Philadelphia and spicy salmon rolls. Each roll was 8 pieces for a total of 16 pieces. The best part the pick 2 lunch special was only $10.99 but not including the seaweed salad upgrade but thats a good price in my book. I will be back to support this restaurant.

The atmosphere is cozy and its CLEAN! The sushi chef Luis is a former Sushi Den employee, so you cant go wrong with the consistency and quality of the dishes! Comment: We live in the neighborhood and heard good things about Rocky Yama so we had to try it for ourselves. We came by for happy hour and had top notch service. We sat at the sushi bar and watched all of our sushi be made right in front of us. The fish was so fresh. We had multiple nigiri and especially loved the albacore tuna- so tender and the halibut which had the ponzu sauce on it. We also had the lava roll and firecracker roll and both were What a gem to have in the neighborhood. Loved the staff and will definitely be back!

The servers were all very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The fish was very fresh and delicious. We order sashimi when we get sushi every time, and you can tell when they have a good product. Comment: Great spot! I work with restaurants a lot. You can tell this place has put a lot of thought into every detail; the environment finish is high quality with just the right amount of custom work, the dining ware is in-line with sushi but leaves out that east-in-your-face design tendency... and the rolls are perfect. In fact, the scallop roll is hands-down the best Ive ever had! The one catch; we were there the instant they opened for the day, Im not sure what happens if they fill to capacity and get rushed.

Obviously this isnt our servers fault that they are understaffed however facing that issue head on and setting that expectation ahead of time would have been nice. The sushi was decent but I probably wouldnt go out of my way to go back.

Bonus points for serving a healthy, green (as in NOT iceberg lettuce) salad with a delicious ginger soy dressing.There was another sushi place in this location a couple years ago (Isushi) that wasnt so great. I encourage people who were tainted by an Isushi experience to check out Rocky Yama. Its a completely different owned and operated establishment. Rovky yama is certainly superior to what Isushi was.

We ended up ordering an extra roll it was that good. 1000 times better than the place that was here before. They have a great Japanese whiskey and sake menu as well. Every time we tried something we thought it couldnt get better. Also, whoever is making the agedashi in the back is a national treasure, its the best weve ever had! Dont pass on the furikake fries either! (Yes, we over ordered.)

I hadnt been very impressed with the sushi place that occupied this space before Rocky Yama, so it was exciting to enjoy a place in walking distance. The service was great, had a lovely conversation with the owners, who were very invested in the customer experience and curious about the neighborhood. The food was delicious -- really enjoyed the gyoza as an appetizer, it had a kick to it which I loved. The sashimi and sushi rolls were also really fresh and great. Will definitely be returning!

Comment: We stopped by this brand new place last monday around 1pm (1 day after their grand opening), the place is cozy and comfortable. The host was nice and friendly, he was very helping to guide us through the menu as well. And lets go to the main reason i like this restaurant, which is the food itself. The fish they served were very FRESH, you can tell by the look and taste, especially if youve been to many sushi places before. You have to stop by this at this place to try it and be your own judge. And dont foget to try the dessert menu called lychee sorbet ice cream, its not like any other lychee ice creams out there, keep my word for this! We will definitely come back to this place in the future. Congrats on the grand opening, Ive heard it was a success.

Comment: My boyfriend and I attended the “Grand Opening” which featured 50% off food. Unfortunately our server was very inexperienced, and asked how we were doing no less than 5 times before we ever received a single plate of food (our appetizer arrived an hour after we were seated). When we finally did receive our first plate of sushi (which was less than half of what we ordered) she couldn’t identify any of the fish or rolls. At the 2 hour mark we asked for what we were missing, and after 3 hours we had still only received maybe 2/3 of what we initially ordered. We gave up and asked for our bill so we could just go home because it was also very hot in the dining room. There was no manager in sight the entire 3 hours, and after spending more than 10 years in the service industry myself I would expect a manager to touch every table on opening night! It was obvious the entire staff was in a sheer panic and the quality of the food and the service reflected that loud and clear. I honestly doubt I will ever return when there is so much good food to be found in Denver.
