Comment: Let me tell you what. Everything, and I mean everything, about our experience here was DELIGHTFUL. Called ahead on a Saturday night and got a table reserved last minute. The service was SO FRIENDLY. Our waitress was a literal angel on this earth. The food was INCREDIBLE!!! Sushi is some of the best I’ve ever had — such freshness and so high quality. I’m so sad I don’t live in the area because I’d go here so often they’d be trying to get rid of me. Truly exceptional.

Comment: Go here. This was my 3rd time and it is PHENOMENAL. Quaint yet very cool comfortable vibe. I’ve gone in my sweats every time. Most important the food is delicious. Creative. Slight twist with beautiful presentation. Whitney the chef and owner just knocks it out of the park. A sight little twist on every piece of nigiri. Attention to taste and presentation. Large pieces where the flavor just really comes through and worth the time to savor. Service is the best most genuine and attentive you’ll get. They want you to have an experience. Each piece and or dish is going to be a little experience in itself and if you appreciate food and the entire experience you’ll be smiling when you leave. Can’t say enough good things.. 10 out of 5 every time. Prices are good especially for what you get but I’ve splurged every time so my bill doesn’t reflect what yours would be this was a treat so I went all in and will again every chance I get. They know their customers. They’ll remember you, it’s personal and just a really wonderful experience and reprieve. What a treat.

Comment: We sat at the sushi bar and greeted kindly by the owner and chef.We had a multitude of rolls, including the 2 house special rolls, the hamachi garlic ponzu and triple s. The hamaci was our favorite, followed by the red bird roll (wife) and fujiyama (me).Quaint restaurant. We parked on the street and fed the meter, I had originally planned on parking in the Laclede garage 1/2 block away.Chef was very busy filling to-go orders when we arrived. Some rolls could a have been rolled tighter, but otherwise the food was fresh and delicious. Im no sushi/fish guru, but the fish in the case looked like actual filets, not the rectangular blocks some restaurants have. They even had toro (but didnt order). They did not have mackerel on the menu (I didnt ask). Ashai was cold.Perfect start before heading to the Fox.

Comment: We LOVE Sushi Koi!! We go here nearly every Saturday for our personal Sushi Saturday (its a thing, you just don’t know it yet 😜)We love the rolls and how fresh they are. Definitely appreciate that there are NOT a ton of cream cheese filled rolls like most places in town- gross. Instead rolls are unique and a lot of variety in super fresh rolls, some fried components, and/or saucy ones.The roles are great and price is reasonable for the quality/ quantity. We love how pretty the sushi chef makes the togo platter too.Some rolls are cut with pieces a bit too large at times and occasionally rolled a little loose. Yet overall, Sushi Koi slaps and really knocks it out of the park despite minor imperfections.

The sushi I ordered was fresh and the flavors were robust, lastly the service was great. If your interested in dine-in, I suggest you make reservations because the space is small. Comment: While passing through St. Louis, we wanted to eat some lighter food, so sushi sounded good. A few places showed up via a Google search and this place had great ratings and seemed to have a nice variety of food. We found parking nearby and walked over to the restaurant.Right when we entered there was a weird atmosphere. Immediately we were told to scan a QR code and use their website to order our food, which was really weird to me. It didnt even allow Google Pay or PayPal, requiring me to enter all of my credit card info. Plus you have to pay and give a tip BEFORE you even get your food, which is also weird for a sit down, especially when some of the plates are pretty expensive (~$18 for a sushi roll).The miso soup and appetizer (takoyaki) came pretty quickly and hot - tasted good as well... And the sushi came soon after and tasted pretty good. But everything came in and on to-go plastic containers and plates. And it seems like they dont even recycle them, as the single waiter/host just threw away our empty and used plates and containers in a nearby trashcan throughout the time we were there.Overall it seems like a good takeout spot, but the weird atmosphere and overuse of disposable cutlery and to-go containers makes me not want to recommend it as a sit-down place.

I guess it keeps costs down if you dont have wait staff.Food was fine, the sushi wrapped in cucumber was not my favorite... Comment: Im thinking about going there on my birthday, so I wanted to check it out in advance.You order online with a QR code. The staff made sure I was comfortable doing that, and brought ice water and utensils. I ordered miso soup, the harumaki (vegetable egg rolls), the St. Louis roll, and the SSS roll. The miso soup was tasty. The egg rolls were very fresh, though a little burnt. Both rolls were good, but the soy sauce seemed like the low-sodium variety. My only real complaint is that the chopsticks (disposable ones) dont grasp delicate things well, like the salmon roe or the pickled ginger. I had difficulty eating despite years of practice with chopsticks. But the yummy sushi, creative rolls, and GORGEOUS presentation will definitely keep me coming back.

She picked the flavor she wanted and we walked in.A middle aged man was at the door, and he barely acknowledged us. There was one couple in the whole place, sitting at a table enjoying their meal. The welcome we were greeted with immediately made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. There was no smile, no kindness, no consideration, no warmth, but a simple, quick, can I help you?. He barely made eye contact with us, pointed at the menu, and practically threw my card and receipt back at me as if he was in a tremendous hurry. A lovely elderly Asian couple came in as we waited. He greeted them with a smile, asked them how they were doing, and asked them if they were dining in. They said yes, and he proceeded to get them menus, telling them how they would be served. The difference in treatment was like night and day.My daughter was still so excited to be there. All I wanted was for her to enjoy her, experience. She did, but was oblivious that she was being treated with such disdain. She wanted sushi, and so did I, but I couldnt bring myself to buy anything else. I wished there was another place within walking distance because I wanted to go anywhere else but there.If you go, the Strawberry Lavender flavor is absolutely delicious. But if youre a black American, I wouldnt expect to be treated with respect. The special prices begin at 4:30, which is great for a quick bite after work. The staff is always incredibly friendly, greeting patrons as they enter and offering warm smiles. Tako yaki is an incredible starter to the meal. It always comes out hot and flavorful. Good options from the happy hour menu that always arrive at the table tasting amazing are the eel maki rolls, spicy tuna maki rolls, and spicy tuna hand rolls.

Comment: We went for lunch. My wife and I. There is outdoor seating but we opted for indoors. Its not really big but the space is not cramped. The staff were very friendly and hospitable and the standard sushi/sashimi offering were listed on the menu. I had a chirashi bowl. Lots of rice and the usual accompaniments. I was slightly (very slightly) disappointed in the sashimi in the bowl and I only say this because my usual sushi restaurant takes very good care of me and likely adds a little extra. That said, it was more than filling especially with the amount of rice. I also had a sumo roll and a premium Sapporo. I would recommend this as the food, service and cleanliness were all of high standard. The downside.... Only one, unisex bathroom.

The server was not very attentive as our waters and beers were empty for most of our wait. The garlic roll sounded interesting so we ordered it but ended up disappointed. It had no balance, it was all heat because the 1/4 inch thick jalapeño slices on top. I’d order it again but ask for more thinly sliced peppers on top or maybe omitted all together.

Comment: I have lived in CWE for two years and had never been to Sushi Koi until recently. I usually opt for Kampai or Sub Zero, but after my experience here I will make this my regular sushi stop. Not only was the restaurant atmosphere clean and sleek, but the food and service were great! The price of sushi here is much lower than other places nearby and the same, if not better, quality. Our waiter was really nice, but our food took a while to come out. Because of this, he offered us complementary dumplings, which was so great! I believe our waiters name was Ryan, but am not completely sure. Whoever he was, he was very friendly, accommodating and hardworking. We truly enjoyed our experience here and will be back.

Before coming to St Louis for school, I waitressed at multiple sushi restaurants and have eaten at dozens of sushi restaurants from California to Boston; this little cozy place is easily the best. The fish here is always fresh and available for very reasonable prices. Having worked at other places, I know that a lot of sushi restaurants will often skimp on the fish in the lunch/happy hour rolls but at Koi, they’re always super generous with their cuts. Yes, there may only be one sushi chef (the owner) so it might not be great for large parties, but the chef really does put her heart into every cut of fish and roll. I think there was a week where I ate here for lunch almost every day... Staff always does a great job!

Comment: Fairly standard sushi. They have very fresh wasabi which was a great surprise (especially seeing the wife discover it). All nigiri were good quality, but the tuna was a bit rubber like. Uni was on point and the server knew good details about it. The Hamachi roll (2nd picture) is a big portion which is reflected in the price. Not complicated in flavors, but a joy to eat. Service was great and very up front about their toro (where others try to pass chu-toro as o-toro or not even know what toro is even if its on their menu). Sushi chef was very nice as well. I am happy with my experience here and is a good base to check out other sushi restaurants.

The takoyaki was crispy on the outside, and warm and gooey once I bit into it, and they did not skimp on the squid. Most sushi joints here dont even have it on the menu, but Sushi Koi just nails it.The chirashi don - I havent had raw fish this good in St Louis. The temperature of the fish was room temperature. It melted in my mouth like butter. I was sad toward the end of my meal because I realized that once I had a certain piece, I couldnt have it again. It was that good.All in all, I would highly recommend this place to anyone that loves quality sushi.

Surprisingly, the line shortened rather quickly and we got in within minutes. I ordered the Extra Special Cheshire Bowl. It came with a bowl of miso soup, which was perfect in the cold weather. A few minutes later, the waiter brought the main course over. The Hashim were thick and tasted fresh several pieces simply melted in my mouth. Comment: I dropped into Chi Sushi (new name, same location) while in CWE and — WOW! I totally underestimated how good the sushi and service would be! We were warmly greeted, then they explained exactly what they had to offer without looking frustrated with us. The lunch specials were large portions, too! The sushi tasted great and was very fresh. You just cant get better service and sushi than at Chi Sushi! Well be coming back often!

Comment: This is the best spot for lunchtime sushi in the CWE area. They have an $11 lunch special and a punch card (buy 8 get 9th free). High quality product, friendly staff and quick service (most of the time). I knocked one star off because Ive had a couple times where I had to flag down someone for my check but thats not the norm.

Comment: Excellent service, tasty good, and fun artwork make this an awesome spot. Ive been twice to far and the waiter seemed genuinely happy to seat me and take my order. The food was out quick, the drinks were out quicker, and both were really good.Its a small place, but there were just enough people in there to keep it from being classified as dead. The artwork is really unique, when you go there youll see what I mean, and it has one of the coolest bathrooms Ive ever been in. The only drawback is that if you dont go during the superb happy hour, the place can get expensive.

Comment: Great food kind of pricey but it assures the quality of the fish. Will definitely be going back as the food was fresh and tasted great. To the other two mentioned comments if you order a soft shell crab roll of course itll be warm considering its cooked. Go to schnucks for your sushi since you know nothing about quality. Service was also great here.

Comment: Under new managment, no longer fun techno atmosphere, very sterile, TWICE the price 4 roles was fifty bucks. Served us warm sushi and the spider roll tasted heavily of fish almost to where I spat it out!!!! Never going back and as many people over 10 years I told to go to old chi I WILL spend the next 10 telling people not to go to the new one

Comment: New ownership!!! Beware!I miss the old chi. The restaurant itself is no longer fun and colorful, very bland and minalla. New owners and sushi chef. They served us warm and OFF rolls. One straight up tasted like warm fish! We mentioned this to the waiter, didnt eat the roll but they still charged us for it. We will never go back. Dont waste your time. 😥
