Comment: I loved that everything on the menu was all you can eat, Including the appetizers. I had hibachi it was delicious, my bf had several rolls and enjoyed them all. Taking away one star only because their sweet and sour sauce was in packets, not house made. Also their ginger dressing was kinda chunky which was weird..i wasnt a fan. Everything else was amazing including the staff who was friendly even tho it was a late night stop (within an hour of closing) we never felt rushed or like we were ordering too late. We will go back for sure

Comment: The food was good but if you plan on doing the all you can eat make sure you have at least 2 hours for dinner. My son and I did the AYCE and received our first go round in a reasonable time. When we ordered our second round it was an hour and 40 minutes before our order came out. The waiter on 3 separate occasions said our order was next and each time, not so much. Yes it was a Friday but we got there early enough before it was packed.

Manager just dropped off 2 waters for 2 adults and 2 kids and grabbed our order cards and ran off. The manager was all but sprinting to do the pick up orders, going to the kitchen, and making the sushi. They were a bit busy, but tables were seated after us, got drinks, and got food before we even got our appetizer.

This one is mostly generic in regards to dining room style and food.To start, the style of the dining room is pretty standard, and is quite comfy to be completely fair and honest. I rated them a 4 in this category because to me it feels like it cannot decide what it wants to be. The entire design right when you walk into the place feels like its half impressive dining and half fast food. It doesnt really feel like a restaurant completely.As for their food, its pretty basic. They dont seem to put much care into their food. I typically get the udon, which Is a pretty traditional Japanese food. Its not ramen, but it still is made in a certain way. In any case, the veggies they used are frozen for sure, the noodles are alright, and to be completely honest, its not something I would ever get again from this location. Maybe sushi, but even that is bad compared to locations like Sushi Ai, or Blue Ocean, etc. This is more like a discount Japanese restaurant, a knock off really. Its great if you want a taste of Japan, without forking over any money for something close to authentic Japanese cuisine.Lastly, the server (who I believe was one of the owner/operators as well) became a bit rude when I came in for dinner one day. Now in hindsight, they were having dinner service, getting a bit busy, and most of their customers were 2 people or more, not only individuals coming to eat alone. However, she kept asking me if i was sure I didnt want to take my food to-go. I reassured her I didnt, and that I would be eating at the restaurant. Im not one to take things personally all the time, but if Im a paying customer, I could care less if I was taking up space. Im paying to eat, giving me (and anyone else) just as much right to eat at the restaurant. I was tired, somewhat sick, just got back from work and wanted something to eat, which just happened to be udon from this location.Overall, if you want authentic Japanese cuisine, dont come here. If you want sushi, youre better off ordering from Sushi Ai, but in all honesty, their sushi is somewhat good as well, about average. Im not trying to be condescending or even rude to anyone, but your money can be better spent elsewhere, even if it means driving a bit more to a better restaurant. After all, you get what you pay for.Note: Again, their sushi might be somewhat good, but thats it. Other businesses that I have mentioned are better options. If you want some really good sushi, order from sushi Ai, as thats the only other viable option in south county as of right now. Still a decent location for some grub, but there are better restaurants.

Comment: We went an extra mile to check out this place only to experience prejudice upon our entrance.My boyfriend and I (colored people) walked towards the host to request to be seated for two, the host walked away and went towards the back - by the kitchen without saying a word to us. As he walks towards the kitchen, a group of caucasian people came in and got in line behind us. The host signals them to sit in an open booth while we continue to wait and be ignored.That wasn’t a great feeling to experience so we decided to not have dinner there. I’m sure the food is great per the reviews but very disappointed of how they treat people that we couldn’t make it pass that. Comment: While it pains me to write a negative review of a place weve been to numerous times, there is very little I can say that is positive. Two positive things were the miso soup and crab Rangoon. Sushi was terrible, looked like it was made by a third grader and the flavor was off. Seaweed salad was not crisp and slightly slimy. Ginger salad didnt have all the ingredients and the lettuce was brown. I asked for extra Wasabi and it was a good thing. They never put any in the bag to begin with. We should have walked out when we saw a lot of tables where people hadnt gotten their food. Side note, the restaurant wasnt packed. We were part of a collective of 4 or 5 people waiting for carry out that was supposed to be ready at a certain time. Waited about 25 minutes for the food. The cashier just kept telling us someone else going to help with our order. When we walked in we had the feeling something was up and talked about leaving. Next time we listen to our gut. Almost forgot to mention the bubble guts the next day. Never going back again.

The soup was completely flavorless, and the salad looked completely unappetizing— the dressing seemed to have congealed. Wish I could spend less since I only ended up eating half the food. Food was not ready at the time I ordered (carry out), which I was understanding of, but only two tables had food when I walked in, and the rest seemed slightly disgruntled as if they had been waiting a while. I felt bad for the guy waiting for his food next to me— he had been waiting for his food for 45 minutes, and was still waiting when I left (probably ended up waiting for a total hour, at least.) Would recommend updating website to reflect more accurate wait times.

The udon’s broth is good but the noodle itself tastes weird, very doughy. 2 stars because of the service, one of the servers (with glasses) is very very nice but there is another older guy, not sure if he is the owner or not, but he waits and also the sushi chef, that guy is nasty. We were trying to order and he took the pencil out of our hands and kept rushing through everything. We asked for some extra ginger, wouldn’t give us any and even raised his voice. We ordered extra food and they forgot and when we asked, he was so rude and said something but pretty much our order was canceled because they forgot or too busy to get to our order. Comment: Ordered take out about 20 minutes before heading to the restaurant. Got there and waited 40 minutes for my order. The food was really good so we decided to try again. We ordered at 7:55 and got to the restaurant to pick up our food at 8:45 and it wasn’t ready. It was another 30 minutes before our food was done. If you order from here, beware that you may be waiting up to two hours for your order. The sushi comes out pretty quickly, but anything that’s made hot in the kitchen takes a long time to be ready. Four stars because we have no complaints about the food, but the wait time is a little ridiculous, so we’ll probably head somewhere else next time we want sushi.

Comment: Attempted a pickup order tonight. Instead of enjoying sushi, I got garbage service, with a large side of eye rolling. Wish I could leave a review for the sushi, but honestly probably not worth it. How about instead of a bunch of attitude and assuming people know your wait times, you should have a service on your online order to inform people of current wait times. OH, or better yet, why dont you answer your phone so when I called trying to get the wait times prior to ordering I could have known and gone elsewhere. Thanks sushi sake for nothing. Comment: I will preface this with everyone has a bad day. I get it. However, bad days for a server doesnt constitute terrible service.We arrived shortly before 6pm and were immediately seated. Order was taken promptly and appetizers were delivered fresh.And then we waited...and waited.. New customers were seated, served, given their bill, and gone before we received our food.My husband received his hibachi cold 45 minutes after ordering and we waited an additional 15 minutes before we received our sushi.While paying the bill I asked to speak to the manager. Our waitress didnt understand and ended up crediting us $2. I didnt want the credit. I just wanted to speak to the manager and let him know this was unusual for this restraunt.The food is always delicious here but the staff leaves something to be desired.

Comment: Ordered 2 Chirashi & 2 rolls to pick up. Was told 25 minutes. It was ready on time. Check was correct. Food was perfect! Miso soup was hot, salad was cold & had enough dressing. Plenty of soy sauce, wasabi & ginger. Fish was fresh, not skimpy, great texture, rice was seasoned well & just slightly warm. Rolls were exactly as ordered & so tasty. Everything was well packed with chopsticks, spoons & napkins. I know they hit a rough spot earlier in the pandemic, but it seems to be ironed out now. Could not be happier. Great experience.

The prices on all of the menu items weve had were very reasonable considering Japanese food is usually a bit pricier. The servers are very attentive and take good care of their diners. Comment: I was racially profiled at this restaurant just 10 minutes ago. I was here with my friends having a great time and leaving very embarrassed... The waitress give us our receipts to pay. Out of my two friends and I was the only one that had the message “please tip” and the tip section was circled on my receipt. That is very rude they thought I would not give her tip which I ALWAYS do when I dine in. We asked for the manager he made it even worse. He accused me of always coming in and not tipping that waitress whom I’ve NEVER seen before.. I’ve only carried out twice which was LAST MONTH and I asked was I supposed to tip on carry out he said no. Then he said that I have been there many times dinning in and do not leave a tip each time. I told him I have not dined in his restaurant in many months. My friend then asked is the waitress getting her confused with another person. She said no that is her and pointed right in my face. I work over 50 hours a week and have not been to this restaurant to dine in MONTHS only carried out twice last month ONLY. I always tipped when I was dining in this restaurant.. I can not believe I was racially profiled at this place.. this has never happened to me at all in my life.. I’m so embarrassed and I will not be going back to this restaurant at all if they want to treat me like this and accuse me of something I’ve never done.. but every black persons doesn’t look alike....

Comment: Initially it was good, 4 star review was left. We went one or two times after that before we had an incident. They were short staffed in the kitchen, so wait times for food were an hour+. We ordered two plates of food each and by the tike we got the second plate, the rice had expanded in our stomachs and we werent feeling the food after the lousy service and long wait time. The managers charged us an extra 19 dollars for several pieces of sushi left on a plate. I know its policy. But on a night when we were there for two hours waiting for food, youd figure they would understand. We havent gone back since. Sushi Ai is the same price and we havent had a single issue there.

Comment: Sushi Sake knows how and delivers on fresh sushi. I have had their other dishes on the menu and so far there isnt anything I dont enjoy. I like their seaweed soup they offer with meals. Also picking up orders is simple as long as your clear over the phone. Careful on taking Udon noodles home. They do their best to contain soups but expect splashes on the common sense type meals when transporting. Enjoy the meals.

Comment: Ordered at 6:45 and arrived at 7:15. It was busy, with a few people waiting for tables, few waiting for orders to-go. My girlfriend and I waited in store for 45+ minutes before receiving our food.When we were actually brought our food another fellow, for no reason reached between us and tried to grab our bag as if it was his. Self entitled, stupid, or both? I dont know considering he showed up just 5 minutes before we were leaving. He butted through 5 people to reach the counter to make sure they knew he was ready to get his food. Not the establishments fault for the idiots they attract, but a better take out system may have eliminated this awkward exchange.As for the food -- $40+ for 2 special rolls and a spicy Maki combo that came with a soup and salad. The salad was just some hacked iceberg and a few shredded carrot pieces tossed into a styrofoam cup, nothing substantial. We did not recieve dressing in the bag either. In fairness it was never shown to come with any. Got home and the size of the order was not much to look at. The Maki combo literally looked the same across the board, tasted the same as well. Basically defeats the purpose of buying a multi roll combo. Maybe it was all the same and they figured we wouldnt know or care? Maybe it was an honest mistake? Either or, it wasnt any better than pre-made grocery store sushi. The fried butterfly roll had no flavor other than canned tuna. The mexican roll was decent, but a far cry from other special/signature rolls Ive had. Lastly, the pieces were not large, nor did they contain enough premium ingredients to justify a $10 and $14 price tag per roll.We asked for some eel sauce and spicy seafood sauce with the order via the online system but did not recieve any. We did get 2 small containers of soy, wasabi, and ginger.Perhaps a dine in experience at a non-peak hour would have yielded a better experience. However after this trip I doubt well be back to find out.

Comment: I am so glad that I tried this place out. They have an all you can eat sushi for just $15. The food here, in general was delicious! What was more impressive was that they really did serve crab meat and not imitation crab meat, in their rolls. My personal recommendation, do try the spider roll. Its the best Ive had in a long time. Will definitely be a regular at this place.

Comment: Soooo amazing! Not to mention, DELICIOUS! I always get the all you can eat for $20. Its better than the all you can eat at other sushi restaurants because it includes everything, not just sushi. You can order all you can eat miso soup, gyoza, tempura, etc!!! On the weekends and at night it gets really busy. You can expect to wait 20 to 35 mins for your sushi (when busy) but its worth the wait. Also, kid friendly. They have high chairs for your little one.

Comment: Called in a order for two rolls. One regular California roll and one spicy, regular was $4 and spicy was $4.25. I asked if they can put a small cup of spicy mayo on the side. Went to pick it up and total was $11.35 which seemed too high but I thought I guess it was tax. I paid and walked out. When I got home I saw they charged me $2.25 for a cup of spicy mayo!!!Its the same spicy mayo they put on the spicy California roll and charge 25 cents more but I guess if u get it on the side its $2.25.Plus other places usually have 8 pieces to a roll, here its only 6.

Our son was tired because we came in at 7:00pm on SUNDAY evening and it took till 8:15pm for me to get all of my order that was ONLY 3 rolls on the all you can eat and then when I only ate 1 roll because our son was ready to leave because he sat there for an hr and I asked for a box they told me NO I CANT TAKE IT HOME WITH ME ME!!!!! I spent over $50 on my wife, son, and me and thats how they treat you here. Do yourself a favor and go to TOKYO SUSHI IN SUNSET HILLS ACROSS THE STREET FROM HELEN FITZGERALDS!! The rolls are better there anyway.

I would recommend coming earlier for dinner if you do all you can eat as this place can get packed at peak hours, which slows down your orders (if you put in more than 1). Comment: I didnt dine in, but the restaurant was clean and very nicely kept, even if, as some complain, the decor is a bit common. I hadnt come to order a full meal, but I did want sushi that didnt come from the supermarket or the Chinese buffet up the street (although their sushi is better than most buffets), I was in the area, so I decided to try a couple spicy tuna rolls. Service was quick, and when I had my small lunch, I found the two rolls to be more than filling. They were fantastic, every bit as good as the high quality sushi restaurants you find in Miami. I also decided to try sashimi for the first time, here. Having never eaten it before, I have nothing to really compare it against, but it was delicious. I was a bit nervous about eating a slab of raw fish for the first time (no, sushi is rarely raw--it can be, but sushi refers to chilled fish, not specifically raw and in America, most restaurants that serve sushi dont serve any raw), but I decided to just go for it, and instead of shoving the whole thing in my mouth to get over with, I forced myself to eat it properly and really taste it. Having dipped it, just as the Food Network taught me, I found the flavor and texture to really be excellent. It was nice and tender, and I savored every bit of it, totally getting over the fact that I was eating raw fish. I dont know if this restaurant is the best sushi restaurant around, but I promise that its just fine for someone trying raw for the first time, as it will provide something that will taste wonderful the moment you put it in your mouth. Prices arent bad, and there are plenty of restaurants charging more for the same or lower quality food. Granted, I cant afford to be a regular, but it wont hurt my wallet to go once in awhile. For the two spicy tuna rolls and the piece of salmon sashimi, I paid about twelve and a half dollars, so about twice as much as you might pay at the supermarket, but it is oh-so-worth it. It is worlds better than the supermarket sushi. Ive got places I can go for some pretty good sushi at low prices, but theyre still not quite the quality of this place. Theres a wide range of items on the menu. It seems that full meals hover at around 20 dollars. All in all, a good little restaurant.

Comment: Our waitress was incredibly overbearing and did not listen to us. She went on and on and on about how the menu worked even though we told her twice that we already knew what we wanted. My wifes sushi was mediocre at best and arrived 5 min after my entree. I ordered teriyaki beef which was burned in some places and raw in others and also gave me food poisoning. Asked the manager if he would take the beef off the ticket since I was not able to eat more than a few bites of it, he argued for quite a bit in front of the whole restaurant then finally agreed as long as I paid for the soup and salad that came with the beef separately. Decor was dated, music was annoying and loud. Never again. Cant believe this place has 4.6 average review.

My husband and I have been wanting a good sushi place to open up in South County and are sooo glad this place did.We go there multiple times a month and always enjoy every bit of food. There hasnt been one time that weve gone where there has been a problem with our food.The staff is wonderful and does their best to take care of each table/guest. I dont think they have a high turnover rate because we get one of two servers who normally serve us.Ive had the bento boxes, some special rolls, regular rolls, sushi, nigiri, sashimi, udon, tempura, edamame, gyoza...my husband and I have probably tried just about everything on the menu (with the exception of some special rolls that include ingredients we dont like). The food is always fabulous.The prices are a great value when it comes to good, quality sushi. Im talking about $3.25 for a salmon roll and $1.25 for salmon sushi -- thats a steal for good quality sushi I think. There are places like Drunken Fish that charge an arm and a leg for a little bit of sushi and sometimes youll order the same thing twice yet they taste or are just completely different. Not the case with Sushi Sake.The ambiance of the restaurant is not overpowering, its rather relaxing. There really are no overly loud noises or hustle and bustle. Ive never had to raise my voice to have a conversation in there even when the restaurant was full.This place is kid-friendly as well. For those of you who dont like kids while you dine you wont have a problem in this establishment. It is also group-friendly as many times we see groups of people at the center tables enjoying their meals.There are no negatives that ever come to mind when deciding to dine at Sushi Sake. As I said before, I highly recommend this place. When it first opened we went in hoping for greatness and we got it.

There are limited dining options in the area (unless you prefer fast food and chain restaurants--which I dont) so I was sad to see a local place so empty on a Thursday evening. My only thumbs down was the MUSIC, which was dance/techno, and played a notch too loud. Id recommend they change the music, or install a dance floor. LOL! I wouldnt call it a destination dining place, but Id go back again if in the area.
